Melissa Knecht is a Certified Nurse PractionerMelissa Knecht, FNP-C

Melissa Knecht, FNP-C, is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Melissa has over 19 years of experience in the medical field. Melissa started her career as a medical assistant, in her hometown of Oakes, ND. She quickly realized she wanted to learn more, therefor she transitioned to the role of an LPN after graduating from NDSCS/STTC. But it did not stop there, she went on continuing her journey to an RN thru the University of Mary. But her quest was not complete, her education would continue as she knew there was more to learn to help serve the lives of her patients. Melissa then advanced her education all the way to a Family Nurse Practitioner, with her Masters in Nursing.

Melissa’s focus is on helping and making a difference in the lives of her patients. In that time, she has worked in variety of different specialties from medical weight loss, urgent care, dermatology, women’s health, family practice, aesthetic services, hospice and mental health specialties. No matter the setting, her patient’s mental health along with their physical health needs are critical in identifying and helping to improve both on a daily basis.

From anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, overcoming food additions, disordered eating, anorexia, bulimia, emotional eating, to pre and post-menopausal changes that impact mental health and well-being. Melissa’s background and years of experience help her not only diagnosis the condition at hand, but help her gain the insight needed to apply appropriate medication management and treatment guidelines for the patient and their family. She will also discuss nutritional and lifestyle changes, as well as medical treatment options for her patients.

Melissa treats her patients as if they were her own family, serving patients in a manner she would want to be treated herself.

Melissa received both her undergrad and master’s degree from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. While working in the Fargo-Moorhead area and advancing her degree and career experience, she has been raising her beautiful children and watching them grow. In her free time, Melissa enjoys running, hot yoga, music, and reading. She loves the outdoors and lakes country, and also partaking in her children’s activities from music concerts, dance competitions, all the way to rodeos, as her children are as well rounded as her experience in the healthcare industry.
